- It is utterly shocking that public service departments are changing their geographical numbers to 08 numbers and making the public 'pay' to get in touch with them by phone.
- These departments include DWP Disability Living Allowance, DWP Attendance Allowance, JobCentre Plus (incapacity benefit), which all deal with the sick, poor and vulnerable, and Jury Service which relies on the willing support of the community. Of course when they are busy, the longer they can keep you on hold, the more they earn from their cut of the phone call!
- There should be a campaign to insist that public service organisations publish their geographical platform numbers alongside their money-grubbing 0845/0870/0871 numbers, or else these organisations should be banned altogether from using these numbers.
